Zaldy Co facing malversation charges before the anti-graft court that stemmed from the anomalous flood control projects of the government.</p><p>In a 16-page resolution signed by Associate Justice Sarah Jane Fernandez, chairperson of the anti-graft court 6th division, dated June 1, 2026, it denied for lack of merit the motions of Gerald Pacanan, Gene Ryan Altea, Ruben Santos Jr., Dominic Serrano, Juliet Calvo, Dennis Abagon, Montrexis Tordecilla Tamayo, Lerma Cayco, Felisardo Casuno.</p><p>“Upon careful examination of the records, the Court resolves to deny the Motions for Leave to File Demurrer to Evidence of accused, Pacanan, Altea, Santos, Serrano, Calvo, Abagon, Tamayo, Cayco, Felisardo, and Casuno as granting the respective motions would only serve to delay the proceedings,” the Court said in its resolution.  </p><p>“ACCORDINGLY, the Motions for Leave to File Demurrer to Evidence of accused Pacanan, Altea, Santos, Serrano, Calvo, Abagon, Tamayo, Cayco, Felisardo, and Casuno are DENIED for lack of merit,” it added.</p><p>A demurrer to evidence seeks to dismiss the charges against the accused on the ground of having weak evidence presented by the prosecution.</p><p>The nine accused of malversation are said to have benefited from the P289-million anomalous flood control project in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.</p><p>According to Sandiganbayan, the schedule of hearings previously set this June for the presentation of defense evidence remains.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/5/8/remulla-zaldy-co-staying-at-luxury-home-in-paris-1500">Remulla: Zaldy Co staying at luxury home in Paris</a></div><div><br/></div><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO:</strong></div><div style="text-align:center"><iframe width="960" height="540" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/zV1THdMw3v0?si=F4LUleouIYd8NPe_" title="YouTube video player" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div>
