Ocampo, Kalaw, and Malate.</p><p>“Dati hindi ito name-maintain nang tama… Isang taon yang ganyan, hindi gumagana. Pag gumana, nakita niyo naman mabilis lumalabas yung tubig, hinihigop niya all the way to Faura hanggang Taft,” added Dizon. </p><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1782288842900viber_image_2026-06-24_15-17-57-834.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Courtesy: DPWH</span></span></span></div><p>He said delays in securing permits and utility connections contributed to setbacks in operations but noted that the DPWH was addressing this.</p><p>“Hindi pala ito nakakonekta sa kuryente sa Meralco. Puro generator lang pala ang nagpapatakbo rito. Ang problema, pag generator lang, pag naubusan ng krudo, hinto ang bomba. Ang generator para lang yan dapat back-up,” he said.</p><p>According to Dizon, the goal is to minimize flooding and allow floodwaters to recede faster, especially once the Remedios and Abad pumping stations also become operational. </p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/4/20/dpwh-tears-down-discaya-pumping-station-in-quezon-city-1441"><strong>DPWH tears down Discaya pumping station in Quezon City</strong></a></div><p>“Pag natapos lahat ‘to, mamemenos yung baha all the way to Taft, all the way to P. Ocampo. Pati dito sa Malate, dito sa Kalaw, dito sa Faura. Or at the very least, bumaha man, mabilis mawawala kasi mabilis mahihigop,” he said.</p><p>Dizon said the repairs were funded through DPWH maintenance funds, since no dedicated allocation for locally-funded flood control projects was included in the 2026 national budget.</p><p>“Yung kaya nating gawin nitong (2026), kahit wala tayong pondo, gawin natin,” he said. </p><p>Once the rehabilitation of all damaged pumping stations in Metro Manila is completed, Dizon wants to turn over operation and maintenance responsibilities to local government units.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/3/24/-sunog-apog-pumping-station-in-manila-fully-operational-in-may-says-dpwh-chief-1644"><strong>&#x27;Sunog Apog&#x27; pumping station in Manila fully operational in May, says DPWH chief </strong></a> </div><div><br/></div><div><strong>‘ANTI-BAHA STRIKE TEAMS’</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>The DPWH also said that it has mobilized flood response teams nationwide to clear drainage systems ahead of heavy rainfall and instructed district engineering offices to prepare for forecasted storms. </p><p>“Yung basura, kina-clog yung mga pasukan ng drainage, mga inlet.
