P6.8-M shabu shipment intercepted, suspect arrested in Manila buy-bust

MANILA — The National Capital Region Police Office arrested a suspected drug courier and confiscated more than P6.8 million worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation in Sta. Cruz, Manila early Wednesday, June 24, Metro Manila top cop PMGen Anthony Aberin said.Aberin said operatives of the Station Drug Enforcement Unit of Meisic Police Station (PS-11) under the Manila Police District carried out the operation around 4:25 a.m. along Rizal Avenue near Bustos Street in Barangay 303.Authorities apprehended a 36-year-old man who was allegedly attempting to distribute a large volume of illegal drugs intended for circulation across Metro Manila.Recovered from the suspect were a vacuum-sealed plastic sachet containing approximately one kilogram of suspected shabu and another heat-sealed sachet containing around five grams of the same substance.Police estimate the total value of the confiscated drugs at P6,834,000.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/5/20/drug-suspect-falls-in-buy-bust-over-p13-m-worth-of-shabu-seized-1819">Drug suspect falls in buy bust; over P13-M worth of shabu seized </a></div>Also seized during the operation were a P1,000 bill used as buy-bust money and five counterfeit P1,000 bills.The seized substances will be submitted to the Manila Police District Forensic Unit for laboratory examination, while the suspect will undergo ultraviolet testing as part of the investigation.Charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared against the suspect.“Every major haul we intercept is a direct strike against the networks that poison our communities.
