<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/178245019918820220322-pdp-laban-endorsement-JC-034004000_iOS.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Alfonso Cusi. <em>Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News/File</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — The Sandiganbayan Third Division<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/6/19/sandiganbayan-resets-cusi-s-arraignment-for-graft-over-malampaya-deal-1128"> rescheduled again</a> the arraignment of former Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi and former officials of the Department of Energy (DOE) in their graft case over the Malampaya stake sale.</p><p>During the arraignment on Friday, court chairman Associate Justice Karl Miranda said the arraignment is reset on July 10 to allow the accused to appeal the bill of particulars filed by the prosecution.</p><p>Two of the accused filed a comment on the bill of particulars, stating that those are conclusions based on assumptions and hypothetical scenarios. The other co-accused adopted the comment.</p><p>Cusi initially did not adopt the comment, subjecting him to the arraignment. But when he was up for arraignment, his team belatedly adopted the comment.</p><p>Miranda said the accused may file their respective motions for reconsideration until July 1. The prosecution, meanwhile, will be given five days from receipt of the motions or until July 6 to submit a comment.</p><p>Five of the accused are still working in the government. When they are arraigned, Miranda said, they will be automatically suspended for a maximum period of 90 days.</p><p>The court, meanwhile, struck out some parts of the bill due to lack of sufficiency of the allegations.</p><p>In 2019, Cusi and other former DOE officials sold Chevron’s 45 percent stake in the Malampaya gas project to Udenna Corp., founded and chaired by businessman Dennis Uy.</p><p>In 2022, the Office of the Ombudsman investigated the DOE officials after a Senate committee report purported that the agency hastened the sale even though Udenna Corp. failed the financial capability test and the submission of audited financial statements.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>OTHER NEWS</strong></div><div><strong><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/kNdREYljR8o?&amp;pp=ygUWbWFsYW1wYXlhIGFicyBjYm4gbmV3cw%3D%3D&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span></strong><br/></div><div> </div>
