Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN News/File</div>MANILA — The administration of President Corazon Aquino Elementary School in Quezon City has denied rumors on social media that a stabbing incident occurred inside the school, saying the injury stemmed from a fistfight between two students.School principal Dr. Gerry Isip clarified that no stabbing took place, explaining that one of the students sustained a head injury after being accidentally struck by the wristwatch of another student during a fight, which happened Friday morning.“Wala pong stabbing incident na nangyari. Away bata lang po, natapat na pagsuntok ng isang bata, na may relo, yun ang nadaplisan, kaya dumugo ang ulo,&quot; he said.Isip said both students are now in good condition and that their parents have not filed any complaints.“Okay naman po sila, pati ang mga magulang parehong wala naman pong reklamo. Nung nangyari yung incident, dinala namin agad sa hospital para malapatan ng paunang lunas,&quot; he said.The principal also refuted claims that the school was placed on lockdown following the incident, explaining that the school gate was closed because classes were already in session.“Wala pong nangyaring pagpapasara ng gate, kasi that time may klase eh, expected po talagang sarado ang gate. Kasi nga pagpasok ng bata ay alas sais, ang paglabas ay alas dose,&quot; he said.Isip urged the public to verify information before sharing it online.“Sa ating mga magulang na nagpapakalat sa social media, mag-ingat po kayo kasi wala pong katotohanan at puro fake news lang po ang sinasabi ninyo. Sana alamin po muna ninyo kung may katotohanan ba yan o wala,&quot; he said.He added that the two students have already reconciled.“Okay naman po sila, magkasundo na nga po eh, nagngingitian na. Away bata lang po talaga,&quot; Isip also said.The school also assured parents that security remains tight through coordination with local authorities.“Mahigpit po ang ating security, kasama ang ating mga barangay at mga pulis hindi po tayo pinababayaan ng Station 6,&quot; Isip said.<div> </div><div>POLICE: IT WAS A FISTFIGHT</div>Meanwhile, Quezon City Police District Station 6 commander Police Lieutenant Colonel Gemmer Tubiera confirmed the results of their initial investigation, saying there was no stabbing incident.“Nagkaroon ng pag-aaway yung dalawang bata, kaya nagsuntukan sila, tumama yung relo ng bata sa likurang bahagi ng isa sa bata, kaya dumugo,&quot; Tubiera said.“Nagconduct po kami agad ng paunang imbestigasyon, at doon napag-alaman namin na walang stabbing incident na nangyari,&quot; Tubiera added.Tubiera said additional security measures have since been implemented in schools, including increased police visibility and meetings with parents and students.“Mula po noong nangyari yung incident, nagdagdagan po kami ng karagdagang seguridad sa mga paaralan, nagsasagawa rin kami ng pagpupulong sa mga magulang at mga estudyante,&quot; he said.He also appealed to the public to exercise caution before posting unverified information on social media.“Dahil po sa ating mga nangyari sa krimen sa mga paaralan, sana maging maingat po ang mga magulang sa pagpopost ng mga impormasyon ukol po sa mga krimen. Mas mabuti po na magtanong muna sila sa kinauukulan para hindi po sila magbigay ng maling impormasyon,&quot; Tubiera said.
