Rodante Marcoleta attends a special session at the Senate of the Philippines on June 17, 2026.<em> Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — Protesters gathered at Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila on Tuesday to question the <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/6/30/iglesia-ni-cristo-backs-marcoleta-amid-plunder-raps-questions-selective-justice-0920">plunder case set to be filed against Sen. Rodante Marcoleta.</a></p><p>Some of the protesters arrived before dawn, while a <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/6/30/traffic-snarls-hit-edsa-as-thousands-of-inc-members-gather-for-rally-1003">separate rally was simultaneously taking place at the EDSA People Power Monument.</a></p><p>The protesters called for accountability from who they called real corrupt government officials, particularly those involved in the flood control scandal. </p><p>The rally came a day after Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla announced the filing of a plunder case against Marcoleta over the alleged non-disclosure of P75 million in campaign donations.</p><p>“Bakit kailangang kasuhan si Senator Marcoleta gayon ‘yong plunder hindi naman nanggaling sa kaban ng bayan. Kumbaga private citizen naman ‘yong nagbigay ng donasyon,” said Myrna from Tondo, Manila, who joined the protest.</p><p>“‘Yong mga mandarambong nga bakit ‘yon ang hindi kinakasuhan? Bakit ‘yong nananawagan ng justice pasa sa flood control [scandal], bakit hindi ‘yon ang kinakasuhan?” she added. </p><p>“Huwag na tayong magbulag-bulagan sa nangyayaring issue sa flood control. Masyado na tayong inaapi sa sarili nating bayan. Ilabas natin ang ating saloobin. Nakita naman natin dito ngayon na nama-manage natin ng maayos pero meron tayong personnel na naka-bantay para bantayan yung daloy ng trapiko,” MPD spokesperson PMaj.
