Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News</div>MANILA — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Wednesday inaugurated a new pedestrian footbridge along Visayas Avenue in Quezon City to provide a safer crossing for students, teachers, and residents.The footbridge, which is equipped with roofing and lighting facilities, was constructed in response to the needs of the nearby Maria Montessori School of Quezon City.According to the MMDA, students and teachers had long struggled to cross the road with 36,000 vehicles passing through Visayas Avenue daily.&quot;&#x27;Yung isa sa basehan namin ng paglalagay nito ay may nasagasaan po na teacher dito na tumatawid alam naman natin di lahat ng motorista sumusunod sa batas trapiko na kahit nakakakita ng footbridge at tumatawid, di binibigyan ng priority,&quot; MMDA Chairman Don Artes said.&quot;By providing this footbridge magkakaroon ng safe na tawiran lalo na yung mga estudyante,&quot; he added.The agency estimates that around 1,400 pedestrians will benefit from the new footbridge every day. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held during the inauguration, attended by students and school officials.Meanwhile, Artes said the dismantling of the <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/8/14/new-improved-kamuning-footbridge-to-cost-p89-million-1124">Kamuning footbridge</a> would begin in the coming months. The structure will be relocated to Manila and installed in front of the University of Santo Tomas (UST).&quot;Ang footbridge na &#x27;yan para di masayang ay lilipat natin sa Manila City sa tapat po ng UST. So ginagawa na po &#x27;yung plano medyo kumplikado kasi &#x27;yung pagtatanggal dahil may linya po ng kuryente diyan.
