Allen Rae Co urged the public to remain calm, stay vigilant, and avoid sharing unverified information that could cause unnecessary panic or alarm.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2026/6/29/viral-post-on-alleged-gun-threat-sends-students-home-in-negros-occidental-1530">Viral post on alleged gun threat sends students home in Negros Occidental</a></div><p>“We noticed that there is an increase of threats that are being done, ‘yon pong bomb threats – some are just trying to avoid going to school or maybe ‘yong mag-take ng exam.</p><p>“So, our advise to the public is first stay calm but be vigilant, report any threat or information that you might have immediately to the authorities. And one of the most important is for us not to share unverified information as it only amplifies the fear of the public,” Co said.</p><p>Co said the PNP continues to work closely with school authorities, local government units, and other stakeholders to strengthen school security.</p><p>He added that the cooperation has already prevented potential incidents, citing cases in Iloilo, Aparri, and Mandaluyong where authorities recovered illegal drugs, firearms, and bladed weapons from students or within school premises before any serious incident occurred.</p><p>“As a matter of fact, our cooperation and close coordination with school authorities have already borne fruit.
