Investigation into the events that led to the death of three Boy Scouts and injury of 11 others in Zamboanga City is now underway.

A Critical Incident Management Task Group composed of local government offices and the city colice was created to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of three 17-year old scouts during the city-wide Boy Scout Jamboree at Freedom Park, Barangay Pasonanca, on Thursday morning.

Initial investigation showed that at least 15 scouts were tasked to transfer a canopy, the tip of which accidentally touched a live wire, sending the scouts flying to the ground.

Kevin Emmanuel Iguid, Geoffree Atilano, and Alvin Gaspar were declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Eleven others are still being treated as of this time.

At the funeral parlor, Geonelyn Atilano, mother of Geoffree, was sewing the Boy Scout uniform that her son will wear in his casket.

Geonelyn said she doesn't know if she should blame anyone for the incident.

"Quiere lang yo sabe que laya ya tiene live wire alla y quien canila ya manda carga con el canopy," she said.

(I just want to know why there is a live wire in that area and who asked them to carry that canopy.)

Geonelyn said her son started to excel since he started Grade 7.

It was Geoffree's decision to be a scout and it was through his own effort that he was able to buy his scout uniform and other needs.

Meanwhile, Marciana Iguid, mother of Kevin could barely contain her tears.

Marciana said she was informed by her other child about the incident and she immediately rushed to the hospital upon learning Kevin was brought there.

However, upon reaching the hospital, her 17-year old son is already lifeless.

"May dugo tapos maitim na yung mukha niya... Sa ambulance pa lang nagsuka na siya ng dugo," Marciana said.

Students and teachers of Zamboanga City High School Main lighted candles Thursday afternoon for the souls of Kevin and Geoffree.

Geoffree's friend Mariel described him as a gentleman and sweet, and always knew how to motivate them. Geoffree was the Student Supreme Government vice president.
