MANILA -- The city government of Bacolod has turned over its first housing units under the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) Program, it said on Sunday.

In a release, the local government said they already distributed over 200 housing units for Building 1 of four of the Asenso Yuhum Residences. This was in collaboration with Bacolod Housing Authority (BHA) and WRS Holdings Consortium.

Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Albee Benitez said this would help in their goal of becoming a "super city" by "combining innovation, collaboration, and a focus on uplifting lives."

The 4PH is the government's flagship housing project to provide affordable homes to Filipinos.

In 2022, the housing department committed to building 1 million housing units annually to address the Philippines' 6.5-million backlog in residential spaces.

But Housing Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar had said the government slashed its housing target to 3 million units by the end of Marcos' term after realizing that it takes about a year for private developers to take loans from banks.
