2 fishermen missing, 1 rescued after motorbanca capsizes in waters off Subic

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Sunday rescued one of the three fishermen from a motorbanca that capsized in the vicinity waters off Subic, Zambales in the same day. Photos by CGNO Parale/CGPAS via PCG FacebookMANILA — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Sunday rescued a fisherman from a motorbanca that capsized in the vicinity waters off Subic, Zambales in the same day, but his 2 other companions remain missing as of Tuesday.

According to the PCG, their Zambales station informed them about the incident of the three missing Filipino fishermen of a small fishing banca (Jiong) that capsized due to a broken outrigger. 

BRP Suluan then conducted search and rescue operations while en route to Bajo de Masinloc.

At around 10:29 a.m Sunday, BRP Suluan received a call from MV Sao Heaven that monitored a capsized fishing banca in the vicinity waters off Subic, where fisherman Lindo Sumalilo, 54, was eventually rescued.

According to Sumalilo, they departed Subic heading to Cabra Island for a fishing venture when the accident occurred.

The PCG said search and rescue efforts continues to locate the 2 missing fishermen.
