Mamburao is one of the towns in Occidental Mindoro province severely affected by flooding caused by the southwest monsoon and tropical cyclones.

Almost the entire town was submerged after rivers overflowed due to several days of heavy rainfall.

Due to the extent and severity of the damage, the municipality of Mamburao has been placed under a state of calamity.

Almero is appealing to the national government and other groups for additional aid to address the needs of flood victims.

“Right now ang amin po munisipyo is in deficit din po” the mayor said.

One of the town’s most urgent needs is food packs.

Around 2,000 individuals are currently staying in evacuation centers.
