<div><br/></div><p>MANILA<strong> (UPDATE) </strong>— Vice President Sara Duterte condemned Thursday the killing of a barangay chairman who was shot dead while doing a live broadcast on Facebook at his home in Digos City, Davao del Sur earlier this week.  </p><p>“Ipinahahayag ko ang matinding galit at dalamhati sa pagpaslang sa Brgy. Kapitan ng Tres De Mayo, Digos City na si Oscar Bucol Jr., o mas kilala bilang Kap Dodong,” Duterte said in a statement Thursday, November 27.</p><p>“Ginampanan lamang ni Kap Dodong ang kanyang karapatang magsalita sa korapsyon at pulitika ng malaya at ito ay pinatahimik gamit ang baril at bala,” she added.</p><p>Bucol was brought to a hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival after sustaining a gunshot wound on Tuesday night.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2025/11/26/digos-city-barangay-chairman-s-shot-dead-while-on-facebook-live-1418">Digos City barangay chairman shot dead while on Facebook live; police probing persons of interest</a></div><p>The second in command also expressed sympathies to the family of the slain village official.</p><p>“Ipinapaabot namin ang aming pakikiramay sa pamilya, mga kasamahan, at komunidad na naapektuhan ng trahedyang ito,” Duterte said.</p><p>“Sa pag-alala sa kanya, muli naming pinagtitibay ang aming paninindigan na protektahan ang mga karapatan at kalayaang nagbibigay-daan sa lahat na magsalita, magtanong, at makibahagi nang walang pangamba,” she added.</p><p>“Hindi tayo yuyuko kailanman. We, Filipinos, deserve better,” the Vice President said. </p><div><br/></div><div><strong>PNP IDENTIFIES PERSONS OF INTEREST</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>Acting Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. confirmed that several persons of interest have been identified and are being tracked as part of an aggressive manhunt following the tragic incident around 9 p.m. on November 25. </p><p>Nartatez ordered all police units in Davao del Sur and nearby provinces to mobilize tracker teams, conduct follow-up operations, and coordinate closely with local authorities to ensure the immediate capture of those responsible.</p><p>“We are committed to bringing justice to the victim and his family. I have ordered our operatives to pursue every lead and exhaust all means to locate and arrest those responsible,” Nartatez said in a statement.</p><p>Authorities are encouraging the public to cooperate, offering a P2-million reward for information leading to the suspects’ arrest.</p><p>Residents have also been asked to report any relevant information to help the investigation, as police tighten security measures across Digos City to prevent further incidents.</p><p>“The safety of the community is our priority. Rest assured, we will not stop until justice is served and the perpetrators are held accountable,” he added.</p><p>The investigation is ongoing, and police have yet to release additional details about the suspects.</p>
