<p>More than 4,600 passengers are stranded in ports nationwide as the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) suspended sea travel in areas affected by Tropical Depression Wilma, PCG spokesperson Capt. Noemi Guirao Cayabyab said on Friday.</p><p>“We have a total of 4,631 stranded passengers at medyo malaki po ang nakikita natin sa area ng Matnog port,” Cayabyab said in an interview on Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon.</p><p>She said 9,000 personnel and floating assets have been mobilized ahead of Wilma’s expected impact as teams monitor 65 ports where stranded passengers are taking shelter.</p><p>The agency said it is also intensifying its pre-departure and vessel safety inspections to assess the readiness of crews and ships.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2025/12/5/wilma-nears-borongan-eastern-samar-landfall-imminent-0635">Wilma nears Borongan, Eastern Samar; landfall imminent</a></div><div><strong>56 FAMILIES IN EVAC CENTERS</strong></div><p>Meanwhile, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) reported that 56 families or 128 individuals from the towns of Nasipit and Tubay in Agusan del Norte are staying in evacuation centers amid the tropical cyclone.</p><p>“Lahat po sila ay pansamantalang nanunuluyan dito po sa evacuation centers sa Culit Gymnasium sa Nasipit, at Tagmamarkay Elementary School sa bayan ng Tubay, Agusan Del Norte. Maayos naman po ang kalagayan… karamihan po sa kanila ay mga kabataan at kababaihan,” OCD Caraga Information Officer Ronald Briol said.</p><p>He added that roads are still passable to light vehicles despite flooding in lower-lying barangays, including parts of the national highway in Tubay.</p><p>Moreover, 102 passengers are still stranded in Caraga ports.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2025/12/4/wind-signal-up-in-8-provinces-due-to-wilma-1208">Wilma decelerates; more areas now under wind signal no. 1</a></div><p>The regional office raised its alert level to Blue to facilitate a fast response if additional evacuations become necessary.</p><p>Briol said they are also intensifying its monitoring efforts, especially in areas previously hit by Typhoon Tino and Uwan.</p><p>He added that the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Caraga has sufficient stockpiled food and funds to meet the needs of those affected by the storm.</p>
