<p>DIGOS CITY — Vice President Sara Duterte paid tribute to mothers on Mother’s Day, sharing how her mom, Elizabeth, has been instrumental in helping her juggle the demands of parenthood now that she is also the Philippines’ second-highest-ranking official.</p><p>The Vice President and her siblings are expected to have dinner with their mother on Sunday evening to mark the occasion, which also falls on the eve of the 2025 midterm elections.</p><p>“Ang laki ng pasalamat natin sa ating mga nanay, ako lalo na, dahil yung trabaho ko ay demanding siya,” Duterte said on the sidelines of a campaign event here.</p><p>(We owe so much to mothers. Especially for me, because my job is demanding)</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/5/10/pdp-adopts-imee-marcos-camille-villar-to-protect-sara-duterte-0029">PDP adopts Imee Marcos, Camille Villar to protect Sara Duterte</a></div><p>She said that she has been on the road for the past three weeks for campaign activities.</p><p>“Nandoon yung mother ko para magbantay sa youngest kong anak [kasi] dala dala ko siya sa kampanya, yung youngest ko,” she said.</p><p>(My mother is there to take care of my youngest child, who I brought on the campaign trail)</p><p>The vice president described her mother as one of her “pillars,” alongside her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, who remains in detention in The Hague, where he is facing charges of crimes against humanity for his administration’s bloody war on drugs.</p><p>“May pinagdadaanan ngayon yung tatay ko and masakit sa akin… Nandiyan pa din naman siya. He’s still a pillar, it’s just that physically malayo siya,” she said.</p><p>(My father is going through something, and that is painful for me. He&#x27;s still there.
