Explosions hit 3 Bangsamoro towns on election day; 1 hurt

<p>MANILA — Three explosions were reported in Lanao del Sur and Maguindanao del Sur on election day, May 12.</p><p>The blasts occurred in Calanogas, Lanao del Sur; and in Datu Anggal Midtimbang and Datu Piang, both in Maguindanao del Sur, said Lt. Col. Jopy Ventura, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office – Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2025/5/12/halalan-2025-11-patay-sa-mga-bakbakan-pamamaril-sa-western-mindanao-0124">Halalan 2025: 11 patay sa mga bakbakan, pamamaril sa Western Mindanao</a></div><p>Ventura told a briefing that the explosion in Datu Piang happened at around 1:40 a.m. Monday, or hours before voters head to the midterm polls.</p><p>It injured a 32-year-old female, who was immediately treated for injuries and is now in &quot;stable&quot; condition.</p><p>The explosion in Calanogas happened in Sitio Baklayan, Barangay Panngawalupa, at 9 a.m. on election day.</p><p>In Datu Anggal Midtimbang, a suspected improvised bomb detonated at around 1:30 p.m. along the national highway.</p><p>No injuries were reported from the explosions in Calanogas and Datu Anggal Midtimbang.</p><p>Investigation into the series of explosions is ongoing, Ventura said.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO</strong></div><div><br/></div><div><strong><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/GzN3uID9_48?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span></strong><br/></div>
