Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News </div>MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led the inauguration of a new veterans’ clinic called the Veterans Access to Lifetime Optimized Healthcare (VALOR) Clinic at the Fernando Air Base in Lipa City, Batangas on Friday, June 27.He was joined by Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro and Veterans Memorial Medical Center director Dr. Peter Galvez.VMMC initiated the project to reach more veterans and their qualified dependents outside of Metro Manila. It is also seen to decongest their main hospital in Quezon City.“With this project, more veterans and their authorized dependents will be able to avail the medical services that they deserve,” the Philippine Air Force said in its handout.Currently nearly halfway complete, the clinic will offer outpatient-based services by VMMC personnel.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/08/25/23/new-law-raises-veterans-disability-pension-by-488-pct">Marcos Jr. signs law raising veterans&#x27; disability pension by &#x27;488 pct&#x27; </a></div>Services to be offered include basic consultation, immunization services, health screenings, early diagnosis, laboratory tests such as X-ray, CT scan and MRI with local providers and telemedicine consultations.The Palace said more veterans’ clinics will be launched next year until the end of Marcos Jr.’s term in 2028.Locations include Fort Bonifacio General Hospital in Taguig City, North Luzon Command in Tarlac, and AFP Southern Luzon Command in Lucena City, Quezon.Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro clarified that active-duty troops may also avail of services at the veterans’ clinics.Extending primary care services to members of civil defense are also in the works, according to Castro.“Nagbigay naman ng direktiba si Pangulong Marcos Jr. sa DND at DBM: Siguraduhin na magbibigay ng sapat na pondo sa programa para maipatayo ang lahat ng VALOR clinics,” Castro said in a press briefing Friday, June 27.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/11/15/advocates-vow-to-fight-for-filipino-veterans-kin-on-veterans-day-2047">Advocates vow to fight for Filipino veterans, kin on Veterans Day </a></div>The Palace official underscored that the Marcos administration recognizes Filipino veterans’ invaluable service and contribution to the nation by prioritizing their welfare.
