Cash reward offered for capture of goat dealers' killers

Local authorities are offering a P100,000 reward to anyone who could provide information that will lead to the arrest of the people responsible for the killing of the three goat dealers from Calatagan, Batangas.

The local government of Calatagan, Batangas declared a day of mourning on Thursday to honor three of their residents who were murdered in Maguindanao del Sur.

The LGU wants to resolve the case as soon as possible to assure justice for the victims.

"The Local Government Unit of Calatagan, Batangas, stands in solidarity with the bereaved families of the victims and assures them of its full support in their pursuit of justice," said the Calatagan LGU in a statement posted on its official Facebook page.

 "To aid in the immediate resolution of this crime and to bring the perpetrators to justice, the Municipality of Calatagan deems it proper to offer a reward of ₱100,000 to any person who can provide any credible and verifiable information leading to arrest and prosecution of those responsible, in accordance to SB Resolution No. 090, S.2025."

The bodies of Jhon Luis Olarte, 23; his cousin Gerry Ortega, 32; and Ronald Alumno, 37; were found buried in a shallow grave at a rubber plantation in Barangay Nabundas, Shariff Saydona Mustapha, Maguindanao del Sur, on May 30, 2025, after being reported missing since May 11. 

The bodies were riddled with gunshot wounds, with their hands tied and eyes blindfolded.

“All national flags within the municipality will be flown at half-mast on said date as a sign of collective grief and respect,” the local government said.
