Gracie Rutao</div>PAMPANGA — Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rex Gatchalian and Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon visited Barangay Tinajero in Bacolor, Pampanga on Saturday to give food packs to more than 700 families affected by recent storms and the southwest monsoon.They said they were there on behalf of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who was unable to personally visit the storm-hit community because of the bad weather.The department heads gave family food packs, sleeping kits, family kits, hygiene kits, and family water filtration kits to affected families.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/10/22/what-s-inside-dswd-family-food-packs-740">What’s inside DSWD family food packs </a></div>Gov. Gracie Rutao</div>Dizon said he was there to help with the relief effort as well as to consult with local officials and residents on problems that the department could help with.He added the transportation department has already issued a show-cause order to NLEX Corp. to explain flooding on the North Luzon Expressway that ground traffic to a halt over the past week.“Hindi dapat nagbabaha ang expressway. Kailangan nating maintindihan yun para masolusyunan. Ngayon kasi, mahirap kasi yung turuan ng turuan,&quot; Dizon said.(Expressway should not get flooded. We need to understand what happened so we can find a solution. For now, it isn&#x27;t helpful to point fingers)According to the latest reports of Pampanga Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, 360 families or 1441 individuals from Bacolor had evacuated their homes.In the whole province, over 1,659 families or 6028 people are staying at evacuation centers.Meanwhile, 281 barangays are still submerged in floodwaters in 18 municipalities of Pampanga.
