It goes back to the core problem, the SIPCOR machines are really dysfunctional and they need replacement. Last week was the worst, we had 20-hour rotating brownouts. Since they fixed one of the machines, it is now 10-hour brownouts,” he said in a DZMM interview. Siquijor Island Power Corp, a subsidiary of the Villar Group’s Prime Asset Ventures, is the island’s lone power supplier.During his State of the Nation Address, the President directed the Department of Energy, the National Electrification Administration and the Energy Regulatory Commission to undertake measures for the resumption of normal power supply in Siquijor by the end of the year.Tudtud said the province currently has rotating blackout schedules, which affects jobs including tourism. The provincial government declared a state of calamity last month due to the power crisis.&quot;Even with the [Energy Regulatory Commission] giving show cause orders, hindi pa rin sila nakakapag-deliver ng tamang service dito sa island,&quot; he said.
