Cat rescued after being shot with ‘marble gun’ in Bukidnon

A round marble toy was lodged in the face of a pet cat for almost two weeks after it was allegedly shot with a marble toy gun on July 28 in Brgy. Sinuda, Kitaotao town, Bukidnon.The owner said they initially thought Panther, a 3-year-old cat, had only sustained a simple wound on the face, but as days passed, they began to suspect that the injury might be worse.Panther kept sneezing, had difficulty breathing, and appeared weak.“Nakita ng brother ko, sinilip niya, kasi may butas yung sa bandang sugat, nakita niya parang may shiny part. So yun pala, may jolen naka-stuck doon, kaya ni-rush namin siya kahapon dito sa Davao,” the owner told ABS-CBN News.The cat was brought to the Davao Emergency Veterinary Hospital in Davao City over the weekend, where Dr. Ronald Lunar said an x-ray revealed a round object near the cat’s nose.He said the cat suffered a skull fracture, and removing the object was challenging as it could damage critical areas of the head such as the brain.“Pag paakyat kasi ang pagtanggal ng marble, matatamaan yung brain niya. Pag pababa naman, matatamaan yung ilong niya, di siya makahinga. Pag sa side, matatamaan yung mata niya. So pinababa ko siya, natamaan yung ilong niya, but I managed to get it out,” Dr. Lunar said.He added that Panther was doing well after surgery and is now recovering, though still breathing through its mouth.The owner also identified two individuals in their small community who owned a marble gun and is determined to file charges against them for animal cruelty.
