RODRIGUEZ, Rizal — Two days after the reported landfill collapse in Rodriguez, Rizal on Friday afternoon, February 20, a father narrated the incident as his two children luckily survived the incident. According to his children, the collapse occurred at around 2 p.m., but his children were able to be pulled out almost an hour later at about 3:20 p.m. He claimed that neither the local government unit nor the landfill management was present to assist during the rescue.“Noong dumating po ako yung anak ko nahukay na po sila. (ISWIMS), from which ABS-CBN News has yet to receive a response.  According to both residents’ testimonies, only three backhoe trucks were being used for search and rescue.  Initial reports indicate three fatalities from the incident, but this has not been confirmed by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of Rizal. The agency stated that it is still gathering information from the incident.
