(UPDATED The University of San Agustin - College of Law (USA-COL) Bulahan Price Team has clinched the World Championship at the 2026 Price Media Law Moot Court Competition (Global Rounds), marking a historic first for the institution on the international stage.Held from April 13 to 17 at the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights, University of Oxford in the United Kingdom, the competition gathered top law schools worldwide to test their expertise in international media and human rights law.The Iloilo City-based law school delivered a dominant performance throughout the competition, finishing the preliminary rounds with a flawless 3–0 record to advance to the knockout stage.The team overcame a team from Jordan in the octofinals, defeated a United States-based team in the quarterfinals, and secured a hard-fought semifinal victory against the host university, Oxford.In the championship round, the Bulahan Price Team faced Osgoode Hall Law School from Canada and emerged victorious, sealing the title and capping off an undefeated run.The winning team was led by captain and oralist Marco Giorgione Dava, with Gie Ann Marie Aloro serving as second oralist. The team’s researchers were Kenverly Kirch Duran and Zynnie Zaragosa. They were mentored by Atty. Anfred Panes.The win marks the first time the USA-COL has secured the global championship in the prestigious media law moot.Dava also earned individual recognition, ranking 10th Best Oralist in the preliminary rounds. The accolade builds on his earlier achievement as 5th Best Oralist at the Asia-Pacific Rounds held in January.In a statement, the USA extended its highest commendation to the Bulahan Price Team, praising their discipline, excellence, and commitment to upholding the institution’s tradition of distinction on the international stage.“A global victory. An Ilonggo triumph. A historic first for the University—securing its first-ever championship on the world stage and affirming its place among the leading advocates in media and human rights law,” the university said.Iloilo City Mayor Raisa Treñas also lauded the team’s achievement, saying: “The people of Iloilo salute the University of San Agustin College of Law Bulahan Price Team as World Champions at the 2026 Price Media Law Moot Court Competition. Your triumph is our city’s pride. Padayon!”The Philippines was well-represented in the Price Media Law Moot global rounds by teams from the University of San Agustin, Lyceum of the Philippines University, University of the Philippines, and Ateneo de Naga University—all of whom qualified through national and international selection processes, underscoring the country’s depth of talent in media and human rights law advocacy.<div> </div><div> </div>
