Arthur Fuentes, ABS-CBN News </div>MANILA -- Taiwanese tech giant Asus is aiming to become the top vendor of business laptops and desktops in the Philippines within 3 years&#x27; time, company officials said on Wednesday.During the launch of its Expert series of PCs at a hotel in Taguig, ASUS Corporate Vice President Rex Lee said the company looks to leverage its success in the consumer and gaming segments of the PC market to challenge the dominance of what the company calls &#x27;DHL&#x27; in the commercial segment.Lee said &#x27;DHL&#x27; stands for Dell, HP and Lenovo, which currently hold bigger shares of the commercial PC market in the Philippines, compared to Asus.But Lee said Asus already has a higher headcount in its commercial PC team compared to other brands, and this will rise further as the brand tries to expand its market share.  &quot;Our goal is to become the No. 1 commercial PC brand in the Philippines within 3 years. Arthur Fuentes, ABS-CBN News </div>Unlike consumer laptops and PCs, which lean on performance, business laptops are built to be more robust, Asus officials explained. As these notebooks are meant to be routinely carried in travel, and used in sometimes challenging conditions, the laptops should be able to handle being dropped, carried improperly, and even spilled on.As these laptops are also used more often, their components such as hinges, displays and ports should be able to handle significant abuse without failing, Asus officials said.At the sidelines of the hall where Asus officials were discussing the merits of the Expert series PCs, Asus staff set up booths to demonstrate the robustness of its ExpertBook P and B series notebooks.At one booth, an Asus employee allowed people to drop an ExpertBook laptop from a height of over three feet. The laptop still worked even after this.<div>[[PHOTO ALBUM]]</div>At another booth, a staff member allowed people to step on another laptop for several seconds, and then step on the screen for several more seconds. The Expert series unit still worked afterwards.To show that the laptop is spill-resistant, water was poured on its keyboard. An 8-kilogram kettlebell, meanwhile, was attached to a USB port of another laptop and then lifted, to show that its reinforced ports can handle this. At still another booth, an Asus staff member picked up the laptop by the side of the screen, showing how this can bend the display, but still leave it working.Despite undergoing these &#x27;tests&#x27; which would have ruined other laptops, the Asus ExpertBook series notebooks continued to function normally.Francis Avila, Commercial Business Head at ASUS Philippines, said they overengineered the Expert series to withstand extreme abuse, and have passed more tests in the US Military Grade MIL-STD-810H standard than its competitors.  &quot;We don&#x27;t only design for performance, we also design for durability,&quot; Avila said.Asus said the P series of notebooks are business users and small and medium businesses. The B series notebooks meanwhile are meant for enterprises and IT professionals.The notebooks are built with lightweight magnesium alloy, feature reinforced I/O connectors, a reinforced hinge connection, and a steel support brace. They use the latest, most power-efficient Intel processors and can be configured with up to 64 GB of DDR5 RAM.Asus lent us an ExpertBook P5 with and Intel Core Ultra 7 258V, 32 GB of memory, and 1 TB of storage. The review will come out soon.
