MANILA -- The government has directed telecommunications companies and internet service providers to ensure internet stability during the coming elections, the Department of Information and Communications Technology said on Monday.

The DICT said that together with the National Telecommunications Commission, telcos and internet service providers, it is aiming to ensure uninterrupted internet connectivity across the Philippines during the May 12, 2025 elections.

The NTC has ordered telcos and ISPs to finish all network installation, repairs, and maintenance works on or before May 3, 2025 and suspend all major network repairs and maintenance works from May 5 to 14, 2025. Emergency repairs are allowed under strict protocols, while all providers remain on full operational alert, the DICT said.

All network maintenance personnel are required to carry valid company IDs, wear official uniforms, and operate clearly marked service vehicles, ensuring accountability in every operation, the DICT added.

The NTC is working in close coordination with the Comelec, the military and police to monitor, protect, and respond to any threats or disruptions to critical communication infrastructure, the DICT said.
