iPhone Air, iPhone 17 takes ‘center stage’ in Apple’s latest lineup

Screenshot from Apple/YouTube</div><div> </div>The entry-level iPhone 17 retains the same body design as the previous iPhone 16, including the Camera Control and Action Button, but now features an upgraded 6.3-inch display with up to a 120 Hz refresh rate, 3000 nits of peak brightness, and thinner border. Apple has also kept the vertically aligned rear camera system, now equipped with a 48 MP main sensor and 48 MP ultrawide lens, as well as an 18 MP front camera, a first for a non-Pro iPhone model. Another key highlight is the debut of the iPhone Air, billed as the “thinnest and lightest” iPhone in the family. The iPhone Air is equipped with a single 48 MP camera housed in a horizontally designed bump that Apple refers to as a “plateau,” along with a larger 6.5-inch display. Apple said the iPhone Air will only support e-SIM, a trade-off for its slimmer profile. At the higher end of the lineup, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max sport a refreshed look, featuring the same “plateau” housing for their triple-camera setup. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max retain their 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch displays, respectively, but now both support up to a 120 Hz “ProMotion” refresh rate, a feature previously exclusive to the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Photo Courtesy of Apple Inc.</div>Under the hood, the iPhone 17 will be powered by Apple’s new A19 chip, while the iPhone Air, Pro and Pro Max models will run on the more advanced A19 Pro, designed to deliver “better performance” and “power efficiency” with the support of Apple Intelligence. Back on the display, all models are protected with Ceramic Shield 2, which Apple promises has “3x better scratch resistance than the previous generation and reduced glare.” Apple said the latest iPhone lineup also debuts the N1, a new Apple-designed wireless networking chip that enables Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread. “N1 improves the overall performance and reliability of features like Personal Hotspot and AirDrop,” the company said. All iPhone 17 models, including the iPhone Air, will come with 256 GB of base storage, while the Pro Max will offer configurations of up to 2 TB. The entry-level iPhone 17 will be available in black, lavender, mist blue, sage, and white, while the iPhone Air will come in four finishes: space black, cloud white, light gold, and sky blue. Buyers of the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will get three touches to choose from: deep blue, cosmic orange, and silver. There is no official release date yet for the latest iPhone lineup in the Philippines, but pricing details have already been posted on Apple’s <a href="https://www.apple.com/ph/iphone/">website</a>. The iPhone 17 will start at P57,990, and the iPhone Air at P72,990, while the premium iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will start at P79,990 and P86,990, respectively. One of its highlights is Live Translation, which enables in-person communication across select languages. Apple also announced the Apple Watch Series 11, SE 3, and Ultra 3 during the event.
