MANILA — The Department of Information and Communications Technology said it is studying the hacking and defacement of one of the websites run by the government&#x27;s red tape watchdog.The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) earlier said its Policy Reform, Innovation, and Streamlining Management (PRISM) platform was defaced last Monday.PRISM is ARTA’s online learning management system. The hackers who defaced the website posted a graphic of the Philippine flag, with a hazy outline of a Guy Fawkes mask in the background and a statement in the foreground criticizing the Philippine government over the alleged corruption in flood control projects.  <div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1758290556906prism hack.jpg" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/>A screencap of the defaced ARTA services website PRISM posted at the Deep Web Konek Facebook page</div><div> </div>ARTA said while it supports the public’s demand for transparency and accountability in both government and private sector endeavors, unlawful acts such as hacking and system defacement are unacceptable avenues for resolution.&quot;ARTA reiterates that there are lawful and accessible channels for citizens to report non-operational, delayed, or questionable flood control projects within their communities such as the “Sumbong sa Pangulo” platform established by His Excellency, President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr,&quot; the agency said.No sensitive or confidential information contained within the PRISM Portal or other ARTA systems has been compromised, ARTA said. But the agency also urged registered PRISM users to verify their email accounts, change their password, and refrain from clicking on unknown links.The DICT, meanwhile, said its Cybersecurity Bureau NCR is now closely working with ARTA for a vulnerability assessment and to implement other measures necessary to ensure the safety and security of these systems.&quot;The DICT assures the public that we are taking all proactive steps to safeguard our government systems and protect the integrity of our data,&quot; it said.Hackers have breached and defaced government websites in the past to protest issues such as corruption, electoral fraud, among others.
