Arthur Fuentes, ABS-CBN News</div>MANILA — Xiaomi finally took the wraps off its 15T series on Thursday, with the Pro model featuring 5x optical zoom powered by a Leica-branded camera system.The T series has been Xiaomi&#x27;s bridge between its more affordable midrange phones to its higher priced flagships. Last year, the 14 T series phones were even billed as being as close to a flagship without actually being one. The 15 T series continues that tradition and pushes the envelope even further. Officials of Xiaomi Philippines have even called the 15T Pro a &#x27;flagship.&#x27;I&#x27;ve actually tested some very premium phones, which don&#x27;t even have some of the capabilities of this phone, and it&#x27;s quite a looker too, especially the Gray (silver) colorway.But first the specs. Our test unit came with 12 GB of memory, 512 GB of storage, and a Mediatek Dimensity 9400+ chipset. The latter is likely one of the reasons why this isn&#x27;t billed as a flagship, even though the Mediatek chip is no slouch-- it is rated up there with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, which is used in the most premium Android phones.<div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1758778804077xiaomi 15t pro screen.jpg" style="width:600px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/>The Xiaomi 15T Pro has a very good screen that puts out vibrant colors. Arthur Fuentes, ABS-CBN News </div>Aside from this, you also get a nice flat 6.83-inch AMOLED display that can run up to 144Hz. Screen resolution is 1.5K (2772x1280) and full screen brightness is 1800 nits, with peak brightness reaching 3200 nits.This phone is a standout in looks, and it almost seems a shame to have to put a rubber case on it. Xiaomi already had a very good design with the previous generation 14T, and they mostly kept that design with the 15T, with some refinements thrown in.The brushed aluminum frame looks really classy, while the matte back really shines. Arthur Fuentes, ABS-CBN News </div>Xiaomi, however, further refined the design of the camera module, with the bezels on the individual lenses no longer sticking out, and the bezel on the module itself sloping downwards giving it a very svelte look.And of course, the star of the whole package is the camera system. All of the cameras on the back have been co-developed with imaging powerhouse Leica. The 15T has a 50 megapixel main camera with a bright f/1.63 lens, a 15 MP ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 lens, and a 50 MP 5X telephoto lens with an f/3.0 lens. This is the first 5x telephoto lens in the T Series. Arthur Fuentes, ABS-CBN News </div>Content creators will be glad to know that the main camera can shoot 4K video at 60 fps, and even 8K at 30 fps. Some very premium phones don&#x27;t even offer that 8K capability yet. Xiaomi also says all three rear cameras support 4K HDR10+, which enables consistent cinematic quality across focal lengths.I have yet to fully test the 15T&#x27;s cameras, so I can&#x27;t really give a verdict on the image quality. When it comes to getting a good image, it&#x27;s not just the megapixels that count, but also the sensor, lens and the imaging algorithms. But Leica wouldn&#x27;t agree to put its brand on anything mediocre, so I have high hopes for the photography chops of the 15T Pro.The Xiaomi 15T Pro is now available for a pre-order price of P38,999, which comes with a free Xiaomi Band 9 Pro.
