PC makers, meanwhile, are looking to leverage the new chip as the market gets even more competitive.</p><p>Some welcome innovations include a PC that fits in a keyboard, and screens that roll up and expand. These are the successors to the widely praised Series 2 or  Lunar Lake chips, which helped Intel catch up in terms of power efficiency with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips and Apple’s M-series. </p><p>Panther Lake is the first chip series to come out of Intel’s new foundry, and it promises to be even  better than the already well-received Lunar Lake chips. Laptops driven by Lunar Lake sold very well last year, so Panther has a lot to live up to.</p><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1768053274540Acer Aspire 14 AI.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/></div><div><strong>ACER</strong></div><p>Acer was one of the first PC makers to announce a laptop using Panther Lake. In fact, Acer announced it during IFA Berlin last year, although no one was allowed to touch the prototype. </p><p>At CES, Acer finally unveiled mainstream laptops using the next-gen Intel chips– the Acer Aspire 14 AI and Aspire 16 AI. Both feature premium designs at accessible price points, with optional OLED displays and a flexible 180-degree hinge design.</p><p>The Aspire AI laptops come with up to 32 GB of memory and up to 2 TB of PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage, ensuring fast and responsive performance for hybrid workflows, Acer said.</p><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1768056023290asus rog gaming glasses.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Asus ROG XREAL R1 Gaming Glasses. <em>Handout</em></span></span></span></div><div><strong>ASUS</strong> </div><p>Asus also delivered the goods at CES, with new ROG Zephyrus G14 and G16 gaming laptops, also using the new Panther Lake chips.  </p><p>But Asus also unveiled something literally eye-catching with its ROG XREAL R1 Gaming Glasses. According to Asus, the ROG XREAL R1 Gaming Glasses bring gaming into a whole new dimension with the world’s first 240Hz micro-OLED FHD AR glasses. </p><p>While gaming glasses are not exactly new (TCL demoed something similar at IFA in September last year), having a premier gaming brand like Asus ROG throw its hat into this segment is definitely welcome news. </p><p>“The 1920 x 1080 resolution, 240Hz refresh rate, and ultra-low 3ms motion-to-photon latency deliver immersive visuals. Simple, HP says. Put the CPU into the keyboard itself.  </p><p>The HP EliteBoard G1a Next-Gen AI PC looks like a portable wireless keyboard, but it also houses a CPU powered by the AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series processor. You just need to connect it to a monitor and mouse and you’re good to go. </p><p>While a keyboard-PC isn’t exactly new either (Kudos Raspberry Pi 400), this could be the first time a major PC vendor is taking on this form factor.</p><p>From the description online, this looks like a PC that’s more geared towards enterprise customers. But hopefully, consumers can also get their hands on it. Last year, Lenovo showed off a laptop with a screen that could expand vertically. This year, it unveiled the Legion Pro Rollable gaming laptop, which features a flexible OLED display that expands horizontally. </p><p>The Legion Pro Rollable’s screen can expand from a conventional 16-inch 16:10 aspect ratio to an extra-wide 21.5 inches, all the way to an ultrawide 24 inches. </p><p>Lenovo said the Pro Rollable concept is based on the Legion Pro 7i, and it’ll come with an Intel Core Ultra processor and Nvidia’s flagship RTX 5090 Laptop GPU. Ever since folding phones entered the market, they’ve always had unsightly creases right where the soft flexible screens are folded. A creaseless screen would make foldables at par with bar phones and (who knows?) maybe even usher in a world where most gadgets have flexible folding screens.  </p>
