After 3 months of using it, I can definitely say that the expectations were thoroughly met, and even surpassed. These are probably the best active noise-cancelling (ANC) earbuds on the market right now. As I’ve never really used AirPods before, and as someone completely comfortable in the Android space, I can also say that the AirPods Pro 3 were quite a revelation. They are my favorite piece of tech right now— even more than my iPad, or the Android foldable phone I have been testing for several months now. Other tech brands have implemented ANC, in one way or another, on their earbuds and earphones. But I have never encountered anything quite like the experience of quietness on the Airpods Pro 3. Pop them into your ears, turn on ‘Noise Cancellation’ in the settings on your iPhone, and feel the world suddenly fade away in silence. There is just something about being able to turn the noise down and regaining focus on what you are doing at the moment. It reminds me of that cheesy Adam Sandler movie called Click, where the main character gets a magical TV remote that allows him to fast-forward, rewind, and even turn down the volume on what’s happening in the world. While the Airpods Pro 3 has no existential rewind or fast forward function, it’s the closest thing you can get to a mass-market product that lets you turn down the volume of the world from a loud 10 to a silent 1, sometimes even zero. In a noisy environment like an online newsroom, being able to turn down distracting talk means you can focus on your writing and editing. If you’re anything like me, easily distracted or annoyed by loud noises and talk, the AirPods Pro 3 are a sanity-saver. I even use them when I’m reading a book, as there’s nothing quite like a silent environment to help you immerse yourself in a novel or creative non-fiction. Sometimes, I even wear them to sleep, with some ASMR thrown in to help me doze off.And yes, the sound quality when listening to music, be it jazz, classical or thrash metal, is superb.Its battery life was also surprisingly long. I could wear them to sleep and wake up with the ANC and music still on. Apple says the earbuds are rated for 8 hours of use, but in my case, sometimes they last even longer.Admittedly, I have never bought anything as expensive as these premium earbuds. My experience with Bluetooth earpieces has ranged from cheap P1k devices to midrange P5k to P7k earbuds. I don’t think I would’ve ever considered buying earbuds costing P14,000 and up. And yet after trying the AirPods Pro 3, I don’t think any other device would do. Apple says that the AirPods Pro 3 removes up to 2x more noise than the previous-generation AirPods Pro, and 4x more than the original AirPods Pro. As I said earlier, I have never used AirPods before, so I don’t really have any point of comparison. But even MKBHD said these were the best noise-cancelling earphones he has ever tried, and that is quite an endorsement from the king of YouTube tech reviewers.The AirPods Pro 3 can also be used to measure heart rate and track over 50 workout types with the new experience in the Fitness app on iPhone. Apple says the earbuds can also do Live Translation using Apple Intelligence, although I haven’t tried this yet. Another nifty trick is that it can be used as a camera remote for your iPhone. And this is probably where it really sucks you into the Apple ecosystem—you need an Apple device, preferably an iPhone to get full use of the capabilities of the AirPods Pro 3. I tried using them on Android, and they will work, but as expected, they are best controlled through an Apple device. I’m not really an Apple fanatic—I use Android and Windows, as well as iPadOS and MacOS. But the AirPods Pro 3 have made me see the value in having an interconnected ecosystem of Apple devices. When I’m on my iPhone, these earbuds work on my iPhone, when I switch to my iPad, they switch to my iPad, and when I switch to my Mac—well you get the drift. And now I&#x27;m finding myself getting sucked into this whole Apple ecosystem thing, thanks to these earbuds.The AirPods Pro 3 sell for P14,990 on the Apple website, but some resellers offer it for P14,500.
