MANILA — The northeast monsoon or Amihan is expected to bring cloudy skies with rains over Northern and Central Luzon while the shearline will affect Southern Luzon and Visayas this weekend, Pagasa announced Friday, January 10.

Easterlies meanwhile will prevail over Mindanao.

Due to the shearline, residents must brace for heavy to intense rain in Bicol Region, Calabarzon, Northern Mimaropa, Eastern Visayas, and some parts of Cebu, Negros and Panay. Flooding and landslides may also occur in these areas.

The state weather bureau said a higher chance of passing rains on Saturday is forecast on Metro Manila, while Amihan will bring cool weather and light to occasionally moderate rains in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Cagayan Valley, and Aurora.
