MANILA — Typhoon Uwan continued to weaken on Monday while moving away from Ilocos Region.At 4 p.m., it was located 175 kilometers west northwest of Sinait, Ilocos Sur, with winds of 120 kilometers per hour and gusts up to 150 kph. It is moving northwestward at 10 kph.Wind signal no. 2 is still up in these areas:BatanesCagayannorthwestern IsabelaApayaoAbraKalingaMountain ProvinceIfugaoBenguetIlocos NorteIlocos SurLa Unionwestern and central Pangasinannorthern ZambalesMetro Manila and 22 other provinces across Luzon remain under signal no. 1.Uwan will exit the Philippine area tonight or early Tuesday as it recurves.It will re-enter PAR Wednesday evening, cross Taiwan, and rapidly weaken into a low pressure area over northern Philippine Sea.The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Monday said the typhoon left at least 2 people dead and displaced 1.4 million.According to the NDRRMC, the typhoon affected 231,000 families or about 837,000 individuals across more than 2,700 barangays. Of these, 426,000 families or 1.4 million individuals were pre-emptively evacuated, with 92,000 families or 318,000 individuals staying in evacuation centers.It added that 1,085 damaged houses were reported in Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and CARAGA.At least 155 cities and municipalities are still experiencing power interruptions, 13 have water interruptions, and 14 are dealing with communication issues.A total of 71 roads and 26 bridges remain impassable. Some municipalities in Aurora province — including Casiguran, Lasag, Dinalungan and Dipacilao — were reported isolated due to landslides.
