MANILA -- As the observance of Undas comes to a close this All Souls’ Day, motorists traveling along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) are already feeling the effects of heavy traffic, according to the NLEX Corporation.NLEX Corporation Assistant Vice President for Traffic Operations Robin Ignacio said on Sunday that the volume of vehicles is expected to remain high through Monday, November 3, as travelers from the north return to Metro Manila.&quot;Tuluy-tuloy na po ito hanggang mamayang gabi. Bahagya sigurong bababa after midnight, pero madaling araw pa lang po, siguro marami na naman po tayong volume pa-southbound hanggang umaga na po bukas,” said Ignacio. <div><a class="fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2025/11/2/passengers-head-back-to-airports-terminals-as-undas-weekend-wraps-up-2048">Passengers head back to airports, terminals as Undas weekend wraps up </a> </div>As of 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, NLEX traffic reports showed slow-moving southbound traffic, or those heading toward Metro Manila, from the Ciudad de Victoria Interchange to Meycauayan, Bulacan.The congestion extends from Meycauayan to the NLEX Harbor Link Interchange and continues toward the Skyway southbound entry. Traffic buildup was also reported in several areas, including Mabiga to Angeles in Pampanga, San Fernando Interchange to San Simon, Balagtas to Bocaue, and beyond the Bocaue Toll Plaza. Vehicles in these areas were moving at speeds of only 20 to 40 kilometers per hour.To help ease congestion, NLEX opened multiple zipper lanes and temporary counterflow lanes along key segments of the expressway.These include portions from Dau to San Simon, from Balagtas before the Bocaue Toll Plaza, and another stretch after the toll plaza leading to Balintawak.&quot;Meron na tayong slow moving traffic approaching Bocaue, Bulacan. Meron na po tayong counterflow [lane] (zipper lane) from Balagtas to Bocaue toll plaza para mas mabilis po iyong pagdating ng mga sasakyan sa Bocaue toll plaza,” Ignacio explained. <div><a class="fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2025/11/1/fewer-passengers-rush-to-head-home-on-all-saints-day-2351">Fewer passengers rush to head home on All Saints&#x27; Day</a></div>NLEX Corporation assured motorists that it is fully prepared to address any potential traffic disruptions, with its incident response teams and towing services on standby.All expressway lanes remain open, with no scheduled road closures or maintenance work until Monday.Meanwhile, motorists returning to Metro Manila via the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) also faced heavy traffic. Based on SLEX’s 6:50 p.m. update on its social media accounts, northbound lanes were congested at Sipit Bridge in Calamba, Laguna, as well as Alabang, Muntinlupa, and approaching the Skyway entry in Sucat, Parañaque.Authorities continue to urge travelers to plan their trips accordingly and remain patient as the long Undas weekend draws to a close.<div> </div>
