Napakalaki ng bagyong ito. It may even reach… pwedeng umabot sa Regions 6, NIR, 7 and 8,” Civil Defense Deputy Administrator for Administration Bernardo Rafaelito Alejandro IV said. “We are preparing basically the entire Luzon and Visayas for the possible impact of Uwan,” he said in a press briefing at Camp Aguinaldo. “Napakalaki nitong bagyo, Ang radius nito ay 700 kilometers from the center—times two, 1,400 kilometers in diameter. Batanes to Bohol ang maaaring maapektuhan,” the official added. In its 11 a.m. update, PAGASA said tropical cyclone <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2025/11/7/fung-wong-intensifies-into-severe-tropical-storm-0651">Fung-wong intensified further </a>as it moved closer to the boundary of the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).The state weather bureau said Fung-wong could enter the PAR late Friday or early Saturday, and would be given the local name Uwan.Uwan may <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2025/11/6/jtwc-potential-super-typhoon-uwan-to-reach-peak-intensity-off-bicol-1631">reach super typhoon strength</a> by late Saturday or early Sunday off Bicol Region.Alejandro urged residents in low-lying and coastal areas to evacuate immediately as Uwan could bring heavy rainfall and severe winds, increasing the threat of storm surges.“We are urging everyone, including our local government units, na i-implement na ang preemptive or preparatory activities in preparation for the possible impact of Uwan,” the official said. “This severe weather will bring widespread impact or effect dito sa areas na dadaanan at kasama sa kanyang rainband.”The Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Mines and Geosciences Bureau (DENR-MGB) said 8,164 barangays nationwide were susceptible to rain-induced landslides and flooding.These include 196 barangays in Ilocos Region; 1,944 in Cagayan Valley; 111 in Central Luzon; 1,523 in Calabarzon; 58 in Mimaropa; and 486 in Eastern Visayas.“Ang ating mga kababayan hindi dapat basta-basta lumilipat sa kanyang tirahan, lalo sa mga nag-evacuate dahil hangga’t mayroong tayong saturation ng ground, may possibility na magkaroon ng landslide sa kanilang lugar, lalo na dapat nating alamin na ang landslide does not happen instantaneously o basta-basta,” said Dr. Karlo Queano, Chief of the Lands Geological Survey Division of the DENR-MGB.“Hintayin natin ang payo mula sa LGU bago tayo bumalik sa ating tinitirhan,” he added.According to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), around 8.4 million individuals may be affected by Uwan.“Maraming maaapektuhan mula sa Cordillera Administrative Region with 1.4 million [individuals] with 56,000 poor families. Next is Region 1 with a potential affected population of 3.5 million, followed by Region 2 with 2.03 million individuals,” Assistant Secretary Leo Quintilla of the DSWD said.“An area na potentially maapektuhan din ay Region 3… with an estimated potential affected population of 1.3 million individuals.
