MANILA — The town of Aparri in Cagayan is facing a scorching heat index of 46°C on Friday, May 23, according to weather bureau Pagasa.

Meanwhile, 29 other areas in the country face dangerous heat index levels ranging from 42 to 51°C.

Areas under dangerous heat index levels are advised to look out for possible heat cramps and heat exhaustion. Avoid too much sun exposure, as it can possibly lead to heat stroke.

Meanwhile, the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) continues to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in Mindanao.

Residents should be ready for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains.

The ridge of the high pressure area (HPA) also brings partly cloudy skies to Batanes and Babuyan Islands.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.
