MANILA — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Tuesday said that it has summoned the owner of the SUV that illegally used the EDSA busway over 300 times since 2022, adding that the vehicle was now placed "under alarm."

“We already identified the registered owner and our investigation will also find out who has been driving this vehicle during the 307 times it illegally entered the EDSA Busway," LTO chief Vigor Mendoza said, adding that the summon was requested by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

The LTO summon directed the registered owner of the SUV "to bring with her the driver and to submit a written explanation as to why they should be penalized for various offenses, including multiple disregard of traffic sign and obstruction of traffic for the driver."

"The Mitsubishi Montero will be temporarily placed under alarm, preventing any and all transactions while under investigation,” it added.

The MMDA said that out of the 307 times the SUV was recorded using the EDSA lane exclusive for buses, 14 were made when the No-Contact Apprehension Policy (NCAP) was reimplemented last month.

President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. last week expressed support for the implementation of the NCAP in Metro Manila, saying that it would lessen corruption and promotes compliance with traffic laws.
