Heavy rains trigger floods in some Metro Manila roads

MANILA — Several roads in Metro Manila experienced flooding on Friday, June 6, amid heavy rains in the metropolis. 

In Mandaluyong City, residents reported 8-inch, gutter-deep flooding at the EDSA-Shaw underpass, northbound lane, around 3 p.m.

A similar flood level was observed on EDSA Ortigas Service Road and EDSA Highway 54 Mall. These roads are still passable to all types of vehicles, as of posting.

At EDSA Main Avenue in Quezon City, authorities also reported 8-inch, gutter-deep flooding. The lane remains passable to all vehicles.

The road on EDSA Guadalupe Bridge was likewise flooded but remains passable to all types of vehicles.

Aside from Metro Manila, the state weather bureau PAGASA said the Habagat will also affect Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, and SOCCSKSARGEN.

Meanwhile, the low-pressure area (LPA) will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in Aurora, Quezon, the Bicol Region, and the rest of the Visayas and Mindanao.
