<p>MANILA — Commuters made use of the MRT and LRT train lines on Monday afternoon following the announcement of class suspension and free rides at the metro transits.</p><p>Passengers were handed tickets at booths or beside the turnstiles while stored value card users used theirs without any charge.</p><p>At around 2 p.m., long lines were seen at the northbound entrance of the LRT-01 EDSA station in Pasay City as security personnel managed the overflow of passengers getting into the station, since the ticket lines inside were already stretched.</p><p>The lines of those waiting to get in reached up to the nearby entrance of the MRT-3 station, which did not experience long lines getting in at the time.</p><p>Transport Secretary Vince Dizon earlier said the waiving of fares at the LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 was to allow the public a safe and accessible means of getting home amid the bad weather.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO:</strong></div><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/8JNRoUc-sOs?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div>
