Waist-deep floods inundated a stretch of N.S. Amoranto Street in Quezon City on July 21, 2025. PAGASA is currently monitoring two Low Pressure Areas affecting the country—one located 1,120 km east of Southeastern Luzon and another 405 km east of Calayan, Cagayan.

The enhanced southwest monsoon is expected to bring moderate to heavy, at times intense, rains over Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, and Occidental Mindoro.

State weather bureau PAGASA has issued its first ever impact-based warning in the wake of heavy rainfall expected from the Tropical Depression Dante-enhanced southwest monsoon in Metro Manila.&quot;High likelihood of significant impacts is expected over Metro Manila from 22-24 July 2025,&quot; the PAGASA warning said.Metro Manila could receive more than 200 millimeters of rain, considered torrential, through Wednesday afternoon and 100-200 mm precipitation Wednesday to Thursday afternoon, based on PAGASA&#x27;s heavy rainfall projections. Moderate to heavy rains (50-100 mm) may still be expected from Thursday afternoon to Friday afternoon.Expected significant impacts include:-serious injuries and danger to life-several health facilities suffering some damage-several houses and buildings sustaining moderate to extensive damage-power and water services interruptions-disruption in road, rail, sea, and air travel with passengers stranded and longer travel timesThe agency recommended the public to take necessary measures to mitigate the impacts of the hazards, including:-Staying indoors and monitoring weather news and updates.-Leaving the evacuations area only when advised by authorities-Reporting fallen trees and electric posts-Checking the house for possible damage and repairing as necessaryThe public was also advised not to walk or drive through flooded areas, cross streams when water level is already above the knee, go swimming or boating in swollen rivers, nor touch electrical equipment when wet or standing in flood water.In April 2023, PAGASA launched the multi-hazard impact-based forecasting and early warning system for the Philippine project. The aim was to initiate a paradigm shift in weather forecasting to communicating what the weather &#x27;will do&#x27; from the traditional way of reporting what it &#x27;will be&#x27;, enabling the public to take action before a hazard event happens.The pilot launch is expected to run until 2027 in vulnerable barangays of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; Legazpi City, Albay; Palo, Leyte; and New Bataan, Davao de Oro before being scaled nationwide.<div> </div><div><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/i5fjxXZ9f-4??si=5ezbYTp839n52dyD&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe> </div>
