Handout/PAGASA"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">PAGASA is monitoring an LPA that has formed over the northern Philippine Sea. <em>Handout/PAGASA</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA (<strong>UPDATED</strong>) -- The low pressure area (LPA) that formed over the northern Philippine Sea earlier on Sunday now has high potential for tropical cyclone formation in the next 24 hours, state weather bureau PAGASA said.</p><p>If it forms inside the Philippine area of responsibility, it will be named Huaning.</p><p>As of 8:00 p.m. on August 17, the LPA was located 590 km east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.</p><p>Another LPA, located west of Northern Luzon over the South China Sea has formed into a tropical depression.</p><p>PAGASA said the weather disturbance may pull the southwest monsoon away from the Philippines with it, which may result in much less rains.</p><p>Meanwhile, the warm and humid Easterlies and/or ITCZ will dominate the country&#x27;s weather through midweek.</p><p>This means it will be hot and humid through early afternoon, followed by thunderstorms Monday through Wednesday or Thursday in most of Luzon. </p><p>Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will be mostly cloudy with scattered afternoon rains, although there will be sunny intervals in the morning as well. </p><p>For the remainder of the week, rains will be more frequent over MIMAROPA, Bicol, Visayas, and western and northern Mindanao due to the Habagat. </p><p>The LPA over north Philippine Sea may stir rains over eastern and Northern Luzon beginning Saturday, with heavier rains and damaging winds during its passage in extreme Northern Luzon late Sunday or early Monday.</p><p>Metro Manila will be hot and dry Monday and have afternoon or evening thunderstorms for the rest of the week, especially Thursday through Sunday.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO:</strong></div><div><strong><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/wjdTFYgGmps?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span></strong><br/></div>
