(UPDATED) The tropical depression northeast of Guam may become a super typhoon after it enters the Philippine area of responsibility, according to the US Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JWTC).In a forecast issued 5 p.m. Thursday, the JWTC said the weather disturbance is expected undergo a period of rapid intensification once it is over the Philippine Sea, where the environmental conditions are favorable for strengthening.Once it enters PAR, it will be assigned the local name Fabian.But the JTWC cautioned that their confidence with the intensity forecast beyond three days is low.The Japan Meteorological Agency issued its first warning for the tropical depression northeast of Guam at 9:15 pm Thursday.The JMA said the weather disturbance may enter the Philippine area of responsibility as a tropical storm early Monday and intensify up to severe tropical storm strength. State weather bureau PAGASA also said the disturbance northeast of Guam has intensified into a tropical storm.The tropical cyclone was last seen more than 2,700 kilometers far east of extreme northern Luzon on Thursday afternoon.It may head towards the Taiwan-Batanes-Babuyan area by midweek next week.Meanwhile, the low pressure area over the West Philippine now has high chance of forming into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours, according to PAGASA.At 8 p.m. Thursday, it was located 75 km west northwest of Bacnotan, La Union.The LPA may exit the Philippine area of responsibility late Friday or early Saturday.
