Alam naman natin milyon milyon ang dadaan dyan lalo na sa mahal na araw. So free from obstruction, and as much as possible hindi ganun kalubak-lubak,&quot; added Dizon.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>MAHARLIKA HIGHWAY REHABILITATION PLAN</strong></div><p>During the press conference, Dizon also laid out the plan for the long-term rehabilitation of the Maharlika Highway which will begin after the Holy Week break.</p><p>Dizon said the design was crafted with the help of Japanese and Korean consultants.</p><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/17712383804751771224089945494.png" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" alt="Conceptual design of the Maharlika Highway. Handout/DPWH" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Conceptual design of the Maharlika Highway. <em>Handout/DPWH</em></span></span></span></div><p>&quot;Gusto namin mag-conform ang Maharlika Highway sa ASEAN or Asian highway standards in terms of ganda ng pavement, yung drainage, standard ng ilaw o lumination… Kaya naman e, kailangan lang tama ang paggawa at walang magnanakaw,&quot; he said.</p><p>The DPWH will prioritize fixing the most problematic parts of the more than 3,000-kilometer road network:</p><p>- REGION 4A (Quezon Province)</p><p>- REGION 5 (Camarines Sur, Albay)</p><p>- REGION 8 (Samar, Northern Samar, Southern Leyte)</p><p>- REGION 13</p><p>Given the scale and scope of the project, Dizon said that the central office of the DPWH will directly oversee all procurements for the project.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2026/1/17/dpwh-seeks-quick-fixes-to-get-maharlika-highway-ready-for-holy-week-rush-1558">READ: DPWH seeks quick fixes to get Maharlika Highway ready for Holy Week rush</a></div><p>He also stressed that only big contractors will be allowed to participate in the bidding process.</p><p>&quot;Hindi ako papayag na mga small contractors ang gagawa na patse-patse, maliliit lang na segment at packages na tig-P30 million, P50 million, kasi yun ang naging root ng problema kaya never naayos ang Maharlika Highway,&quot; said Dizon.</p><p>&quot;Only the big contractors have the financial capacity and technological capacity to use modern technology because they are expensive,&quot; he added.</p><p>Dizon did not yet give an exact costing for the Maharlika Highway rehabilitation, but he stressed that no matter how small or big the budget will be, every peso will be put to good use.</p>
