Firefighters kept working on Friday (January 10) to contain the Eaton Fire, which has ravaged the foothills of Altadena, leaving behind widespread destruction and harrowing imagery.

The blaze, fueled by dry conditions and strong winds, has scorched dozens of homes and disrupted thousands of lives. Fire engines moved through neighborhoods littered with debris, while crews worked methodically to extinguish persistent hot spots. Downed power lines crisscrossed streets, adding to the hazards faced by emergency personnel.

In the ruins, stark symbols of the fire's impact emerged. A statue of a religious figure stood undamaged amid the debris of a destroyed home, a solitary reminder of what once was. Nearby, birds fluttered around a blackened bird feeder in front of a damaged house, a fragile sign of life amid devastation.

Firefighters surveyed gutted neighborhoods, finding homes reduced to hollow shells. Inside one, charred walls and melted metal reflected the intense heat, while nearby, singed flowers swayed in the breeze, their fragility underscoring the fire's ferocity.

The Eaton Fire, now 3% controlled, has damaged or destroyed 4,000 to 5,000 structures, while the Palisades Fire, now 8% controlled, destroyed or damaged another 5,300 structures, including many homes of movie stars and celebrities.
