Rescue teams managed to pull out a one-and-a-half-year-old child early Saturday (March 1) after he fell into an abandoned drill hole in the central-eastern part of Peru.
According to local media reports, the child fell into a nine-meter deep well on Friday (February 28) morning.
During the hours of work to extract him, rescuers were in communication with the child and provided him with food and hydration until his rescue at around 2 a.m. on Saturday.
The rescue was a joint effort of the Fire Department, the National Police, the Peruvian Navy and local residents.
The child was taken to a local hospital for medical evaluation.
