<p>As search, rescue and recovery efforts for people still missing in central Texas continued into a fifth day on Tuesday in the wake of devastating flash floods, some residents of Kerrville, Texas are trying to help the animals left behind.</p><p>At Kerrville Pets Alive, 18-year-old college student Brooklyn Mosey, a black kitten, in her arms. She&#x27;s home from college for summer vacation, and initially volunteered to foster him, but ended up taking him home again. Mosey named him &#x27;Pluto&#x27;.</p><p>&quot;I&#x27;ve been praying a lot for God to send me something,&quot; Mosey told Reuters. &quot;And then the other night, this little angel ran up to me, like just crying, straight up to me.&quot;</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2025/7/9/more-than-160-people-still-missing-days-after-deadly-texas-floods-1016">More than 160 people still missing days after deadly Texas floods</a></div><p>For Kerr County Animal Services employee Mike Wong, who has been helping animals in the region for eight years, this moment is unlike anything he&#x27;s ever seen before.</p><p>&quot;You see trailers, RVs and tiny homes and just everything. The big trees that have, you know, a hundred foot trees that have been here for 100 years or more. And they&#x27;re all knocked over, bent over,&quot; said Wong, who said he&#x27;s saved horses, dogs, and cats in the aftermath of the floods.</p><p>The death toll rose to at least 109, many of them children, as search teams pressed on through mounds of mud-encrusted debris for scores of people still missing.</p><p>The bodies of 94 flood victims, more than a third of them children, have been recovered in Kerr County alone, Texas Governor Greg Abbott said at a late-afternoon news conference after touring the area by air.
