Photo courtesy of Facebook user Mike Flaig via AFP</span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — Three Filipinos who were injured in a bus crash in New York  have been discharged from the hospital, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Monday. </p><p>The three are overseas Filipino workers based in Qatar and were in New York as tourists, the DFA said. </p><p>They have been “medically cleared” after the accident and “confirmed to be safe”, the agency said. </p><p>It said the Philippine Consulate General in New York would “meet them to ascertain their needs and ensure their welfare until their scheduled departure.” </p><div><iframe width="853" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/QRy8bnbB4ew" title="5 dead in New York tour bus crash as NTSB looks at seatbelts, other factors | ABS-CBN News" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><p>On Friday, five passengers aboard a tourist bus were killed when their driver got distracted and crashed on a New York state highway, police said.</p><p>The wreck happened 40 kilometers east of Buffalo as the tourists headed back to New York City after visiting Niagara Falls.</p><p>The passengers were of Indian, Chinese and Filipino origin, authorities said.</p><p>&quot;It&#x27;s believed the operator became distracted, lost control, over corrected and ended up... over there,&quot; said New York state police commander major Andre Ray. </p><p>Fifty-four people were on the bus when it crashed and no children were killed, US media reported, contradicting an earlier police briefing.</p><p>&quot;Mechanical error was ruled out as well as impairment or intoxication,&quot; said Ray, who added that no charges had been brought.</p><div><strong>— With a report from Agence France-Presse  </strong></div><div><br style="caret-color:rgb(0, 0, 0);color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"/></div>
