<div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/jfWABA9a8gk?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div><div><br/></div><p>MANILA<strong> (UPDATE) </strong>— A document dated September 26, 2025 from the International Criminal Court (ICC) shows ongoing communication between Pre-Trial Chamber I and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, one of the possible host countries, about the interim release of former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte.</p><p>The document reveals that the ICC Registry received a response from Dutch authorities on July 2, 2025.</p><p>“On 2 July 2025, the Registry received a communication from the Dutch authorities [REDACTED].” stated Marc Dubuisson, Director, Division of Judicial Services on behalf of Osvaldo Zavala Giler, Registrar</p><p>However, the result of the request was not clearly stated, as the document contains confidential information.</p><p>Earlier, on June 20, 2025, the Registry had sent the Chamber’s order to the Dutch authorities, inviting them to share any comments or documents they believed were important to the Chamber’s decision on Duterte’s request for interim release.</p><p>Dubuisson noted that “On 20 June 2025, the Registry transmitted the Chamber’s order inviting [REDACTED] to submit any observations that it considers relevant to the Chamber’s adjudication of the Interim Release Request, as well as the relevant documents in accordance with the Chamber’s Order.”</p><p>This came after Duterte’s legal team filed an “Urgent Request for Interim Release” on June 12, 2025.</p><p>Later, on June 16, 2025, his lawyers also filed a “Defence Request for Observations from the Host State,” asking the Chamber to get feedback from the Kingdom of the Netherlands.</p><p>In response, Pre-Trial Chamber I issued an order on June 18, 2025, formally inviting the Dutch government to give its opinion on the request for Duterte’s interim release.</p>
