<p>An Iranian Revolutionary Guards senior official said on Monday (March 2) that the Strait of Hormuz is closed and Iran will fire on any ship trying to pass, Iranian media reported.</p><p>&quot;We will burn any ship that tries to pass through the Strait of Hormuz,&quot; General Sardar Jabbari said in a post on the Guards&#x27; Telegram channel. </p><p>&quot;We will also attack oil pipelines and will not allow a single drop of oil to leave the region. Oil price will reach $200 in the coming days.&quot;</p><p>This is Iran&#x27;s most explicit warning since telling ships it was closing the export route on Saturday, a move that threatens to choke a fifth of global oil flows and send crude prices sharply higher.</p><p>U.S. Central Command said the Strait of Hormuz, a key shipping route for the world&#x27;s oil supply, is not closed despite statements by Iranian officials, Fox News reported on Monday.</p><p>CENTCOM did not immediately respond to a request for comment.</p><p>The strait connects the biggest Gulf oil producers, such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq and the United Arab Emirates, with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea.</p><p>U.S. and Israeli stroke Iran on February 28 seeking to topple its leaders, with U.S. President Donald Trump offering Iranians help in ousting the ruling clerics.</p><p>In response, Iran fired several barrages of missiles at its Gulf neighbors hosting U.S. military bases such as Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain.
