CAGERS ADD SPICE TO NEW “THE SCORE”

Pro ballers Joe Devance and Beau Belga join "The Score's" sports squad to make the program livelier and more fun!

ABS-CBN S+A’s flagship program “The Score” recently debuted a new and more exciting format on digital and on television with new main anchor Mico Halili and a sports squad composed of prominent professional cagers led by Joe Devance and Beau Belga and basketball greats Allan Caidic and Jimmy Alapag.

The four are joined by other popular athletes in basketball and volleyball who will also share their knowledge, expertise, and perspective to spice up discussions in the show. They include Jett Manuel, Jai Reyes, L.A. Tenorio, Chris Newsome, Pao Javelona, Eric Menk, Gretchen Ho, and Michele Gumabao.

“I’m very thankful for the opportunity to be here. Playing basketball on TV is different, but this is different, I think this is what I am meant to do with my life, be on TV. I am like a cross between Will Smith and Denzel Washington,” said Devance, who gave the audience a taste of his humor in a press conference last week.

Big man Beau Belga, who’s known as a fearsome enforcer inside the court, said it is also an opportunity to show his other side and work with his fellow athletes outside the game. “When I saw the lineup, there were the nice guys, then you add me, the mischievous one, the concept of the program would be great so I said I am in on this.”

Halili, a veteran sports anchor and analyst, takes pride in his new “teammates” in “The Score.”

“Beau brings practical knowledge and analysis and our viewers will see how fun it is to learn basketball from the point of view of Beau Belga,” chimed in Halili.

He has the same expectation from Devance, a nine-time champion who also shares his social media flair.

Social media will indeed play an important role in the new “The Score” as Halili said “The Score” content will be shared on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, apart from livestreaming on Youtube.

“Our promise is we will talk about what the fans are talking about. At the same time, we’re going to make sure the program is going to be part of the fans’ conversations wherever they are on the web,” he said.

The new “The Score” offers viewers a variety of content throughout the week with game results and analysis on Mondays and Fridays, one-on-one interviews on Tuesday and Wednesday, in-depth basketball discussions on Thursday with the sports squad, plus special segments with Vince Velasco and Victor Anastacio.

Don’t miss the “The Score” from Monday to Friday, 1 pm on the ABS-CBN Sports Youtube channel and 6 pm on ABS-CBN S+A and S+A HD.  For more information and stories, visit ABS-CBN’s sports hub sports.abs-cbn.com and follow @ABSCBNSports on Facebook and Twitter.
