More and more Filipinos around the country are spending their weekends with broadcast journalists Anthony Taberna and Jorge Cariño on “Pareng Partners” as they tackle the most relevant and important issues to Filipino families every Saturday on ABS-CBN before “TV Patrol Weekend.”

With the fourth episode coming up, the show continues to engage viewers who are very happy to see fellow ordinary people being able to express themselves on television and discuss their day-to-day life and concerns like the ideal size of a family; life in the province versus life in the city; the struggle of dealing with daily traffic; budgeting a minimum-wage income; the rising cost of living; and coping with “petsa de peligro.”

According to netizen Joan SP on Facebook, the show is “Inspiring, real, and raw. No sugar-coating, and it shows the life of ‘Juan dela Cruz,”  while Twitter user @ran_darklord13 said the show is “Very informative and gives an in-depth look at the real lives of Filipinos.”

The premiere episode, which featured anchors Anthony and Jorge back in their hometowns to talk about life in the province, was especially memorable for Anthony, who grew up on a farm in Nueva Ecija.

“I’m a farmer by blood, I grew up in the fields and caring for pigs and cows,” said Anthony. “I am extremely honored that this show has given me an opportunity to go back to my roots as a farmer boy, then as a reporter.”

According to Anthony, the positive feedback and reviews from viewers motivates them to pursue even more topics and stories that Filipinos everywhere can relate to, as he and Jorge go back to their days as field reporters.

“We want to be able to tackle topics that concern our viewers and ensure that they have a platform to air what they want to say,” said Anthony. “If before, we would cover police, political, and even war beats, often with VIP’s and public figures, this time we get to put the spotlight on regular people whose voices and opinions are equally important.”

Jorge added, “As a journalist, I’ve realized that the most brilliant minds, caring hearts, and brave souls are often found in the regular people you meet every day. With this show, we let the people tell the stories themselves and hope they inspire others as well.”

On this next week’s episode (August 25), Anthony and Jorge tackle the ups and downs of parenthood, especially in the case of single or solo parents. What is it like to take on the role of both mother and father in the Philippines? And what benefits can they avail of, especially when faced with unforeseen circumstances?
